The Team

 

RES Offshore provide O&M services to a number of offshore windfarms and assets which include offshore transmission (onshore and offshore substations), foundations, subsea cables, meteorological masts and wind turbines. Services consist of routine planned maintenance activities, remedial and reactive works.

 

The Position

 

The role of a Turbine O&M Site Supervisor would be to lead and execute the delivery of planned and unplanned O&M services including minor and major corrective to offshore wind farm assets, with the Offshore O&M Team. The successful candidate will be required to provide technical expertise to help resolve issues and/or implement improvements. We are looking for candidates who have a technical background in mechanical and electrical systems, in a turbine discipline, and with good analytical fault-finding capabilities on Electrical, Mechanical & Hydraulic systems. Experience on Samsung 7MW wind turbines is essential.  The services must be delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with contractual requirements, standards and specifications.

 

This hybrid role will predominantly site based in Fife, Scotland. Other times, planning/reporting of work is expected to be done form a home office.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

The role would suit an experienced Wind Turbine Site Supervisor / Technician who is sufficiently knowledgeable and is able to lead and execute the delivery of high-quality maintenance activities and willing to contribute positively to the continued development of the business. Be a good communicator both written & verbally and be proficient in customer interface at site level and in pre-task co-ordination. The suitable candidate will be comfortable in preparing Risk Assessments, Method statements and other client required procedures and be willing to adopt a high level of Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental awareness, whilst ensuring WTSR compliance.

 

A flexible approach to work will be required as attendance on site or work from home will fluctuate. The technician will be part of an on-call rota. Overtime would be expected as needed, depending on work being carried out and machine status. Travel within the UK & Ireland will be necessary at times.

 

Other areas of knowledge would be advantageous, but not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate which will include:

  • Working knowledge of gearbox inspections
  • Working knowledge of specialised equipment such as vibration analysis, ultrasound, bore scope and thermal imaging
  • Proficient in analytical fault finding, especially electrical.
  • Can assist with the resolution of onsite technical issues and implement technical improvements
  • Take and lead main component replacements
  • Identify and specifying tooling requirements
  • Can conduct technical auditing & assessments
  • Preparation of reporting templates and other technical documentation
  • Can develop and deliver specific in-house technical training
  • Can contribute to the costing of additional works
  • Organisation, forward planning and housekeeping
  • Can professionally accommodate site visitors and subcontractors
  • Has worked in a Health & Safety focused environment

 

 

Knowledge

Skills

  • Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices
  • Understanding and implementation of WTSR
  • Electrical & mechanical fault-finding and analysis
  • Ability to plan safe and effective remedial works
  • Knowledge of Samsung 7MW
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel)
  • Excellent attitude to safety
  • Team leadership
  • Technical capability for the evaluation of complex equipment
  • Capable of working offshore and at height
  • Physically fit, the role will require climbing
  • Communication skills (written & verbal)

Experience

Qualifications

  • Experience of wind turbine maintenance
  • Lifting operations and large component exchange
  • Experience in mechanical, electrical, power electronics, and hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience troubleshooting wind turbine equipment
  • Use of hydraulic tooling
  • An NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, or significant relevant wind turbine experience
  • GWO Training (desirable, however full training will be given)
  • Hold a full driving license
