Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE | Grow BMO Capital Markets' North American equities franchise by deepening institutional client engagement across US and Canadian research, execution and capital markets capabilities.


Mandate

Develop and grow institutional client relationships as a North American equity generalist, distributing BMO Capital Markets' US and Canadian research, execution and capital markets capabilities and contributing to the growth of the Cash Equities franchise. The role will connect clients with differentiated ideas and opportunities across both markets, deepen trading relationships and increase revenue and franchise relevance. BMO's recent expansion in US Research provides an additional platform for growth within this broader North American mandate. The role operates within all applicable risk, conduct and regulatory requirements.


Experience and Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in Institutional Equity Sales.
  • Demonstrated institutional client coverage and relationship development experience.
  • Evidence of revenue generation, client franchise development and commercial delivery.
  • Strong understanding of global equity markets, institutional investor behaviour, market structure and relevant regulation.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; relevant regulatory qualifications required. CFA or MBA beneficial.

Scope and Impact

Directly contributes to client retention, wallet growth and revenue generation. Success is measured through commercial outcomes, relationship development, client engagement and contribution to the broader Equities franchise.


Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with institutional investors across the assigned client base.
  • Drive commercial outcomes across the North American platform by increasing penetration of US and Canadian research, investor engagement, commission generation and client wallet share, including opportunities created by the recent expansion in US Research.
  • Deliver differentiated investment ideas, market intelligence and value-added content to clients.
  • Identify new business opportunities and maintain focused account plans for key clients.
  • Expand product penetration across Research, Execution Services, Corporate Access and Capital Markets solutions.
  • Leverage Corporate Access and roadshows to strengthen client relationships, generate trading opportunities and deepen wallet share.
  • Achieve assigned revenue targets and work with trading teams to maximise execution opportunities and service quality.
  • Provide market intelligence and client feedback to internal stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Research, Sales Trading, Trading, ECM, Corporate Access and Banking teams.
  • Operate within all applicable policies, approvals, limits and regulatory requirements; escalate issues appropriately.


Working Relationships and Conditions

  • Regular interaction with Research, Sales Trading, Trading, ECM, Banking, Corporate Access, Prime Services, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations and institutional clients globally.
  • Office-based Capital Markets role with regular client engagement, travel as required and collaboration across markets and time zones.
