Job Description

Experienced Veterinary Surgeon – Surgical Bias / Orthopaedics

Norwich Hall Road – Vets for Pets

If you’re an ambitious, capable Veterinary Surgeon with a strong surgical interest — and ideally orthopaedic experience or a desire to work toward a certificate — this is the role that will genuinely let you stretch your wings.

We’re offering a position with clinical freedom, a supportive multi‑vet team, well‑equipped theatres, and future partnership potential for the right person. If you’re ready to take the next step in your career, we’d love to talk.

Why Norwich & Why Us

Norwich is one of those rare places that strikes the perfect balance: vibrant city life, beautiful countryside, and the coast just 30 minutes away. Whether you love architecture, independent shops, the Broads, or long walks on the beach, you’ll find your lifestyle here.

Across Norwich we have three individually owned and run Vets for Pets practices. You’ll be primarily based at Hall Road, but with occasional flexibility to support our other sites.

At Hall Road, you’ll join a 6‑vet team (including a new graduate), supported by 8 brilliant nurses, VCAs, and an experienced admin team. Our vets hold special interests in orthopaedics, soft‑tissue surgery, and imaging, creating a collaborative environment where clinical discussion and development are part of everyday life.

We’re purpose‑built, well‑equipped, and backed by a regional team who actively support leadership development — ideal if you’re looking to grow into a senior or future partner role.

What Makes Our Practices Stand Out

  • 15‑minute vaccination appointments
  • 30‑minute clinical consults
  • Well stocked orthopaedic kits
  • Mental Health First Aiders
  • BVA Good Workplace Guide implemented
  • Regular clinical meetings
  • Small Animal GP status with PSS

We also have ambitious expansion plans, and we’re looking for someone who wants to be part of that journey.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experienced Veterinary Surgeon with RCVS registration
  • Ideally 2+ years’ experience in small animal practice
  • A surgical bias — orthopaedics especially welcome
  • Full‑time: 39 hours, 4 days (9–7), 1:5 weekends
  • Weekend rota at our Norwich Sprowston site
  • No OOHs
  • Bank holidays on rotation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A team‑focused mindset with confidence working independently
  • Passion for high‑quality patient care and animal welfare

What We Offer

  • Salary up to £65,000 (DOE / FTE)
  • Generous CPD allowance + certificate funding
  • 5.6 weeks holiday, rising to 6.6 weeks after 2 years
  • Birthday leave
  • Contributory pension
  • Paid RCVS & VDS
  • Visa sponsorship + potential relocation support
  • In‑house career development pathways
  • Access to wellbeing & pastoral support
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • 40% Vets for Pets discount
  • 20% Pets at Home & Groom Room discount
  • Access to Retail Trust, Port of Call & MHFA support
  • We’re genuinely enthusiastic about CPD — if you want to develop, we will back you.
  • Partnership opportunities may be available for the right candidate as our practices continue to grow.
