Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon – Partner Opportunity (North East Birmingham)

Average partner drawings c.£150,000 per annum + equity growth (uncapped) | Practice ownership | Full clinical & commercial support

Own your practice. Lead your team. Keep doing what you love.

Compass Associates is working in partnership with a nationally recognised, well-invested veterinary group to appoint a Veterinary Partner for a thriving small animal practice in North East Birmingham.

This is more than a job move. It's the chance to become co-owner of your own practice — combining hands-on clinical leadership with genuine equity — while a dedicated central team takes care of the commercial, operational and strategic heavy lifting. You focus on your patients, your team and your community; your partner group backs you to grow the business.

The practice is booked in for a full refurbishment and rebrand this year, so you're not inheriting someone else's finished project — you're stepping in at exactly the right moment to shape a modern, growing clinic and build something that's genuinely yours.

Why this opportunity stands out

Ownership made accessible. Buy in from a 10% deposit starting at £10,000, with the balance available on a deferred payment plan of up to 10 years. No bank loan required and no need to put personal assets on the line.

Real, uncapped earnings. Partners benefit directly from the success they build, through profit share and equity growth — with average partner drawings around £150,000 per year and no ceiling on what a well-run, growing practice can deliver.

Support that actually supports. Dedicated commercial, operational and marketing teams behind you — including a first-year marketing allowance to power the relaunch — and no management fees eating into your returns.

A clear way out when you want one. A guaranteed exit opportunity every two years with clearly defined equity buy-back at a predetermined multiple, so you can plan your future with confidence and flexibility from day one.

About the practice

A well-established, well-equipped community practice with a strong local reputation, a loyal client base and a committed, multidisciplinary team of around 18 — including experienced vets, a strong nursing team, reception, veterinary care and admin support. Set over two floors on a busy main road within a large residential catchment, with dedicated client parking and easy access just 15 minutes from Birmingham city centre.

With the refurbishment and reconfiguration planned this year, there's real scope to expand the clinical offering and take the site to the next level.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a forward-thinking vet ready to lead — someone who wants the autonomy of running their own practice with the security and resources of a national group behind them.

You'll likely be:

  • A confident clinical leader, comfortable guiding and developing an established multidisciplinary team (a strong GP vet ready to step up into leadership will be considered).
  • Modern and forward-thinking in your clinical approach, with high standards of patient care.
  • Genuinely motivated by growth — building something sustainable, not just maintaining the status quo.
  • Excited by the idea of ownership, whether on your own or alongside a trusted colleague.

Leadership qualifications or previous experience of practice turnaround or growth are welcomed but not essential — mindset, ambition and clinical credibility matter most, and full training, development and ongoing support are provided.

Relocating or based overseas? We'd love to hear from you. Candidates from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the US and Canada are all encouraged to apply, with visa support available to make the move straightforward.
