We offer a one-off £2,500 recruitment and retention allowance for Veterinary Surgeons joining our Grimsby animal hospital. This includes £1,250 paid in your first monthly salary and £1,250 upon successful completion of probation.

More about the role
As a Veterinary Surgeon at Blue Cross, you will be exposed to a wide variety of medical, surgical and emergency cases. This enables you to build clinical confidence quickly while working within a supportive and collaborative environment.
You will work with our award-winning clinical guidelines, designed to support pragmatic, evidence-based decision making where patient welfare is always the priority. We maintain high clinical standards while encouraging a culture where learning is shared openly in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
We recognise the importance of wellbeing within the veterinary profession. Our hospitals have dedicated wellbeing champions and Mental Health First Aiders who promote a culture of openness and support. The shift pattern is predominantly Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, supporting a strong work life balance. You will also take part in the evening and weekend rota, which typically includes:
- approximately one evening per week for emergency calls and inpatient care only
- one weekend every six weeks, with time off in lieu provided
Our Grimsby hospital offers a high-quality clinical environment that goes beyond what is typically available in first opinion practice. Facilities include digital X-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy within a purpose-built setting.
You will be working alongside an experienced and supportive team who are committed to sharing knowledge and helping you develop your clinical skills.
