Overview
Our client, an international insurance business, is looking for a Property & Commercial Combined Underwriter to join an established underwriting team in Leeds.
You will assess commercial insurance risks, evaluate applications and determine appropriate coverage, working closely with brokers and clients to understand their requirements. The role offers scope to use your underwriting expertise, contribute to strategy and best practice, and further develop your career within Property and Commercial Combined insurance.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite insurance risks within agreed authority and in line with the business plan.
- Assess risks and determine appropriate coverage to support commercial objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, customers, business partners and colleagues.
- Contribute underwriting expertise to strategy, knowledge sharing and best practice.
- Apply underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to manage risk and improve efficiency.
- Ensure underwriting activity complies with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor market developments and maintain awareness of insurance market cycles.
- Use risk profiling, pricing tools and loss models to support underwriting decisions.
Requirements
- Experience within Property and Commercial Combined underwriting.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of key profitability drivers.
- Good knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Experience using risk profiling and pricing tools and loss models.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop effective insurance solutions.
- Good organisational, prioritisation and interpersonal skills.
