Vertex is looking for enthusiastic, curious and dedicated students to join our UK and Ireland Marketing team for a one-year industrial placement. This based position is located at our Head Office in Paddington, London. Applicants should be undertaking a relevant degree qualification and ideally have a strong interest in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.

Role Description

This UK-based role offers a unique opportunity to support commercial activities across both the haematology and cystic fibrosis disease areas. The candidate would gain first-hand insight into the commercialisation of these innovative therapies and their impact on customers and most importantly the patients. The role is varied, with responsibilities including development of promotional materials, supporting with customer meetings/congresses, and contributing to omnichannel campaign planning and KPI monitoring. We would also welcome any suggestions of areas that you have an interest in that we can, hopefully, support with during your placement – especially new and emerging process and technology etc.

During Industrial Placements you will get the opportunity to learn about our industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Students can expect to be challenged by their work, connect with other students, and feel valued by the Vertex community.

Person Specification

• Currently enrolled in a life science or business-related university qualification (e.g. Data Science, Marketing, Business Management)
• Interest in the pharmaceutical industry
• Must be independently motivated and a strong team player
• Demonstrates problem solving skills
• Good written, communication, project management and presentation skills
• Evidence of ability to meet deadlines
• Candidates must be studying a university qualification which incorporates an Industrial Placement as a formal, accredited part of their studies
