Description

Who are we looking for? 
Engineering mindset experience in fabricating and welding is definitely an advantage but someone with pipework and/or plumbing experience could fit the role.  They need to understand what works and what doesn’t work for our teams of fabricators and welders.
Technical drawing familiarityyou will be reviewing models and drawings in BIM, 3D etc for the most efficient and practical way that these would be fabricated so at least some experience in this area is key.
Planning and deliveryability to self-manage, regulate priorities and time manage to achieve the results for the business unit.
Operational excellencedriving productivity, cost control, quality, and continuously looking for better, smarter ways of working with the fabrication facilities.

What You'll be Doing

 The role is responsible for reviewing fabrication drawings and BIM models prior to production to identify and resolve dimensional, design, clash, access and constructability issues, ensuring all information is accurate, manufacturable, weldable and practical for the shop floor. The position develops efficient fabrication strategies, logical sub-assemblies and practical fabrication packages, while minimising unnecessary welding, production time, handling and rework through effective consideration of welding access, sequencing, distortion and available equipment. Working closely with engineering, production and welding teams, the role supports the resolution of technical and manufacturing issues and drives continuous improvement through automation, mechanisation, tooling and new manufacturing technologies, developing and implementing improved fabrication methods to enhance efficiency, quality and cost performance.
