The team
Emmerdale is one of ITV’s most successful long-running drama series, regularly pulling in millions of viewers. As the success of Emmerdale continues to grow, we are looking for a Storyliner to join our busy hard working team.
The role
The Storyliner will join our editorial department, helping to create and produce storylines to the highest possible standard. You will take notes from the Producers, the Story Producer and Story Editors and redraft storylines appropriately. You will need to have a keen passion for Emmerdale, a flair for creative writing and love working to tight deadlines.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Minimum of 12 months' experience in storylining for a drama production, or a demonstrable track record of writing for television.
- Proven ability to develop original storyline ideas and craft compelling pitches.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a proven ability to maintain continuity and consistency across complex, evolving storylines.
- A genuine passion for and deep knowledge of Emmerdale and its characters.
- Experience working within a continuing drama (minimum of 1 year experience), demonstrating the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment under tight deadlines.
- Proven experience of creativity and developing original ideas.
- Practical knowledge and understanding of television production, including the ability to work within production constraints and limitations.
- Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging episodes that adhere to the Emmerdale house style.
- Excellent grasp of English language, including grammar and punctuation.
