This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, patient-focused and conscientious nurse to join our team.

We are an 18 bedded gynaecology ward, who work cohesively with the Consultants, advanced practitioners and Service Managers providing a dynamic, innovative, comprehensive and caring service for patients and their Carers. There is an Early Pregnancy/Emergency Gynaecology unit which is run by specialist nurses, however, there will be opportunities for you to gain knowledge and experience if interested. On Beech ward we care for outlying patients such as medical, surgical, occasionally orthopaedic and women undergoing breast surgery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high quality care to a defined patient group either within the acute hospital or community based setting. They are responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care within the boundaries of their role.

The post holder will contribute to the continuing development of standards of care including developments of nursing standards and monitoring of outcomes. The post holder will be expected to continue with their own professional development.

Job responsibilities


  • Plan, deliver and evaluate compassionate nursing care to meet the patients individualised needs.2. Ensure the highest standards of care and safety are maintained.3. To be responsible for the assessment of individual patients using the appropriate programme/models of care and ensuring co-ordination and implementation of the discharge assessment process and appropriate multi-disciplinary referrals.4. Responsible for the safe custody and administration of medicines, using a range of routes (once competency achieved) within the NMC Standards for Administration of Medicines and adhering to local policy.

Qualifications

Qualifications Essential


  • First Level Registered Nurse
  • Current/live registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council
  • Diploma/Degree qualification


Desirable


  • Teaching/Assessor Qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Qualification /Experience in teaching and assessing


Experience and Skills Essential


  • Ability to document details clearly and accurately
  • Good interpersonal skills and is able to deal with difficult/sensitive situations
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • IT Literate
  • Willingness to undertake training and assessment for further clinical skills
