Job Description

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department at RHC as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse on a fixed-term basis. The department is a large, fast-paced and busy environment that delivers the highest standard of care to a diverse range of patients and their families. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Fixed term, Full-time

Shift pattern - Days and Nights

Base location - Royal Hospital for Children

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care within a busy Emergency Department.
  • Work across all clinical areas, including:
    • Triage
    • Minors
    • Majors
    • Resuscitation
  • Administer medications, including:
    • Oral medications
    • Intravenous (IV) medications
  • Provide care for a wide variety of patients, including:
    • Medical patients
    • Surgical patients
    • Orthopaedic patients
    • Other specialty patients
  • Assess and manage patients presenting with a broad range of illnesses, conditions and injuries.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the department team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Teaching and support will be provided to enable completion of all learning contracts required for the role.
  • Ability and willingness to develop knowledge and skills necessary for working across all areas of the Emergency Department.
