Requirements

Applicants must be a first- or second-level Registered Nurse and hold a valid, live UK NMC PIN. They must be able to meet the job description criteria and demonstrate the professional standards and skills needed to provide safe, effective care within a multidisciplinary team.

Job Description

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our team in Cardiology Ward 43 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The post holder will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience. You will be able to demonstrate high professional standards of care and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting. You will utilise a broad range of knowledge and skills in the assessment, planning and implementation of care for our patients

As a registered nurse within medical specialities, you will have the support of a structured induction, ongoing education and development from our Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialists, and opportunities to develop your leadership and management skills. We are passionate about supporting the well-being and development of our team.

You need to have a live NMC UK PIN in order to be considered for this post.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Location based in Glasgow Royal Infirmary
  • Full-time (37 hours per week) and Part-time position (34 hours per week)
  • Permanent Contract
  • Shift pattern for this post is rotational: days, nights and weekends

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assess patient needs, plan/implement and evaluate a programme of care which is evidence-based, utilising all available resources, taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensuring involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others.
  • Maintain patient records in line with NMC guidelines for records and record keeping
  • Practice within the legal & Ethical framework as established by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and National Legislation to ensure patient interests and well-being are met.
  • Work within the National Health Service (NHS), NHS Greater Glasgow and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation, Policy, Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Contribute to the provision of an appropriate learning environment in line with NES Quality Placement Standards.
  • Contribute to the clinical appraisal of pre-registration nurses.
  • Demonstrate own professional development.
  • Support the implementation of research and clinical audit where appropriate.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • 1st / 2nd Level Registered Nurse.
  • Valid NMC PIN
  • Ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description.
