Staff Nurse - Cardiac Care Ward
Requirements
Applicants should have a special interest in cardiac nursing, confidence in fast-paced environments, and a collaborative approach to delivering high-quality care. The role involves developing specialist skills in rhythm recognition, care of deteriorating and level 2 patients, autonomous practice, and pre- and post-procedural care.
Job Description
As a Band 5 nurse, you will play a key role in delivering safe, compassionate, evidence-based care to patients with a wide range of complex cardiac conditions such as heart failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, and cardiogenic shock. Specialising in cardiac nursing positions you at the cutting edge of care delivery from acute emergencies to long-term management.
You will work closely with our cardiology consultants, specialist nurses, and the wider MDT to support patients and their loved ones through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
This is a permanent position and the candidate will be expected to work on a rotational basis between nights and days, across 7 days a week.

Our busy, modern hospital provides a full range of district general services, including an accident and emergency department, and links with satellite units in five community hospitals. We are the main provider of acute hospital services to a population of around 210,000, living within Weymouth and Portland, West Dorset, North Dorset and Purbeck. We also provide renal services for patients throughout Dorset and South Somerset; a total population of 850,000. Our staff work in GP surgeries, schools, residential homes and people’s own homes as well as Dorset County Hospital and the community hospitals.
