Requirements
Applicants must have a degree in Speech and Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification and current HCPC registration. Essential experience includes working with an adult caseload and multidisciplinary teams, and carrying out communication assessments and interventions; community therapy experience and RCSLT membership are desirable.
Job Description
We have an opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team for a fixed period of 12 months. This position is to cover a maternity leave and the successful applicant will assess, diagnose and treat people with communication difficulties in a number of settings including care homes, clinics and patients' own homes.
Main duties of the job
Conduct formal and informal assessments for adults with acquired communication disorders.
Formulate differential diagnoses with support from senior SLTs as required.
Provide evidence-based, goal-oriented communication therapy.
Consider and provide AAC as appropriate.
Work closely with the MDT including carers, GPs and others.
Provide training and advice to family members, carers and other healthcare staff.
Maintain accurate, timely clinical notes and write clinical reports.
Participate in clinical supervision and CPD activities.
