Your Mission:

Wowcher is looking for an experienced SEO & GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) contractor to own how our brands perform in traditional search and in AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews.

The role is advisory and analytical. You will diagnose performance, decide what matters most, and hand a clear, prioritised action list to our Project Manager, who will coordinate delivery across internal teams and partners. You will also show how search and AI visibility drives visits and revenue across all our channels, not just organic.

Key responsibilities

1. Report on SEO and LLM performance

  • Produce a monthly performance report covering organic search and AI/LLM visibility across Wowcher UK & IE.
  • Track organic traffic, rankings, click-through rate, indexation, Core Web Vitals and organic revenue contribution, segmented by brand, sector (Local vs National) and key category.
  • Measure LLM visibility: brand mentions, citations and share of voice in AI answers for priority deal and destination queries, benchmarked against key competitors.
  • Monitor Google AI Overviews presence and its effect on click-through for high-value queries.
  • Explain what changed and why: algorithm updates, competitor moves, site releases, seasonality.
  • Flag urgent issues (traffic drops, indexation errors, lost citations) between reports as they arise.

2. Create a prioritised list of actions

  • Turn audit and reporting findings into a single, ranked backlog of SEO and GEO actions.
  • Score each action on expected impact, effort and confidence, and give a clear rationale.
  • Write each action so it can be delivered without further interpretation: what to do, where, why, owner team, acceptance criteria and how success will be measured.
  • Cover technical SEO, on-page and content, structured data, internal linking, digital PR and authority, and GEO-specific work (entity clarity, citable content, third-party presence, answer-ready formats).
  • Share the backlog with the Project Manager, who owns scheduling and making sure tasks are completed.
  • Review completed tasks for quality and confirm they were implemented as specified.

3. Run monthly meetings

  • Chair a monthly SEO & GEO review with the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Cover: performance headlines, progress on actions, blockers, new priorities, and changes to the search and AI landscape.
  • Prepare the agenda and pre-read in advance, and circulate notes with agreed actions and owners within two working days.
  • Re-prioritise the backlog based on what is agreed in the meeting.

4. Measure how visibility drives visitation and revenue

  • Build and maintain a measurement framework that links SEO and LLM visibility to visits and revenue across all channels, not only last-click organic.
  • Track the indirect paths: branded search demand, direct and app visits, AI referral traffic (e.g. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini), email sign-ups, and halo effects on paid search efficiency.
  • Work with the Data Analyst to quantify the relationship, using approaches such as elasticity or regression modelling, UK vs IE or category-level comparisons, and before/after tests on specific actions.
  • Feed GEO and visibility metrics into Wowcher's wider brand KPI framework and marketing mix modelling, so results can stand up to finance scrutiny.
  • Use the findings to estimate the commercial value of each action in the prioritised backlog.

Ongoing advisory

  • Advise on SEO and GEO implications of site releases, migrations, new brands or landing pages, and content plans.
  • Keep the team up to date on industry changes, especially fast-moving AI search developments.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • 5+ years in SEO, including senior or lead roles on large e-commerce, marketplace or travel sites with thousands of dynamic pages.
  • Proven, hands-on experience with GEO / AI search visibility, and a clear point of view on how LLMs select and cite sources.
  • Strong technical SEO: crawling, indexation, rendering, site architecture, structured data, Core Web Vitals and migrations.
  • Confident with GA4, Google Search Console and leading SEO platforms (e.g. Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Sitebulb).
  • Experience using LLM visibility tracking tools (e.g. Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, Semrush AI Toolkit) or building your own tracking approach.
  • Track record of measuring SEO beyond last-click: attribution, incrementality testing or working with marketing mix models to show cross-channel and revenue impact.
  • Ability to turn data into a short, ranked list of actions that non-specialists can deliver.
  • Clear communicator who can run meetings, present to senior stakeholders and push back with evidence.
  • Comfortable working through a Project Manager rather than directly managing delivery teams.

Desirable

  • Experience in deals, vouchers, local services, leisure or short-break travel.
  • Multi-brand or multi-market (UK and Ireland) SEO experience.
  • Digital PR and link-building strategy.
