Job Summary
We welcome enthusiastic and committed Therapeutic Radiographers to apply for this position within our innovative and friendly working environment.We are a large Radiotherapy department within the south west providing both local and regional services to both adults and paediatric patients. We have 5 Elekta linear accelerators and within the pre-treatment area there are 2 dedicated CT scanners, Raystation and a mould room.
All staff are involved in the development of the service and we actively encourage continual professional development including opportunities for post graduate learning to develop skills to promote patient centered care.
As a senior Therapeutic Radiographer within pre-treatment you will have pre-treatment experience and be able to provide accurate planning of radiotherapy treatments with appropriate patient care. You will also be required to assist the Team Lead Therapeutic Radiographer in charge of the area and to deputise when necessary.

Main duties of the job
To ensure accurate planning of Radiotherapy treatments as prescribed, with appropriate care of the patient with a cancer diagnosis
To assist the pre-treatment Team Lead Therapeutic Radiographers in charge of pre-treatment and deputise as necessary.
To use highly developed communication skills to support patients and carers in informed decision making about their care
Adhere to all Health and Safety aspects required in the Mould Room with special reference to COSHH.
Be able to accurately position and immobilise the patient in a suitable position for treatment
Ensure appropriate scans are taken so that treatment can be accurately localised and treatment plans can be verified.
To ensure that immobilisation devices and shielding devices for radiotherapy treatments are produced in a timely and accurate manner.
To be able to plan palliative treatments on VSim.
Use appropriate planning and time management techniques to aid the Band 7 Team Leader with the smooth running of the area of pre-treatment to which he/she is assigned.
Required to provide mentorship and assess training/competency of radiographers, students, apprentices and pre-treatment support workers.

1 in 4 people will need radiotherapy at some point in their life. Not everyone receives the best treatment for their cancer because advanced radiotherapy techniques are currently restricted. Research shows that nearly 24,000 patients are missing out on vital radiotherapy every year. This needs to change. We are campaigning for increased funding and better organisation of radiotherapy. Support our campaign by emailing your MP - this letter will ask them to ensure that every patient gets the best radiotherapy treatment for their cancer, no matter where they live.
