Senior Technical Producer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Producer to lead the technical development and delivery of exceptional live experiences across our varied portfolio of projects. This is a UK based role.

Combining strategic production leadership with hands-on technical production management, this role will support our wider team in taking projects from pitch and early creative development through to on-site delivery and post-project review. The Senior Technical Producer will translate ambitious creative ideas into technically robust, commercially responsible and brilliantly executed experiences.

Working closely with clients, creative leads, producers, technical specialists and external partners, you will provide senior technical counsel, establish the right delivery approach and take overall responsibility for technical scope, budgets, schedules, resources, suppliers, risk and execution across multiple projects.

This is a senior, client-facing role for someone who can see the bigger picture while maintaining a firm command of the practical detail required to deliver complex, large-scale projects.

The role

Technical and creative production

• Lead technical production conversations from pitch and concept development through to installation, live delivery and de-rig.

• Work closely with creative partners to translate creative concepts into compelling, feasible and

cost-effective technical solutions.

Provide senior technical input during pitches, helping to shape scope, delivery strategy, budgets, schedules and client expectations.

• Develop and maintain the overall technical production approach for each project, including

specifications, drawings, workflows and delivery plans.

• Guide decision-making across staging, structures, lighting, audio, video, show control, power,

rigging and other relevant technical disciplines.

• Identify opportunities to use technology in ways that enhance the creative idea and audience

experience.

• Ensure technical solutions are tested, integrated and ready for reliable live operation.

• Remain actively involved in the practical management and on-site delivery of projects when

required.

Project leadership and delivery

• Take overall responsibility for the technical production of multiple concurrent projects, from

initial scoping through to final reconciliation and review.

• Establish clear project schedules, milestones, responsibilities and approval processes.

• Lead internal and external technical teams, ensuring that everyone understands the brief,

priorities, dependencies and required standards.

• Work with senior colleagues to plan project resourcing and balance requirements across the

wider production pipeline.

• Anticipate technical, operational and commercial risks and establish appropriate mitigation and

contingency plans.

• Maintain clear communication with project teams and clients regarding scope, deadlines,

budgets, dependencies, changes and approvals.

• Lead technical production meetings, site visits, rehearsals and show-critical reviews.

• Ensure projects are delivered safely, responsibly and in accordance with relevant legislation,

guidance and company procedures.

• Lead post-project reviews and turn lessons learned into practical improvements for future

delivery.

Commercial and financial management

• Own and manage technical production budgets, estimates, forecasts, change control, purchase

commitments and final reconciliation.

• Ensure technical solutions are commercially sound and deliver the best possible value without

compromising creative or production standards.

• Monitor project financial performance and provide accurate, timely reporting to senior

stakeholders.

• Manage scope changes transparently, clearly communicating their impact on budget, schedule,

resource and risk.

• Negotiate effectively with suppliers, venues, freelancers and specialist partners.

• Support the development of commercially compelling proposals and contribute to pitches and

new-business opportunities.

Clients and stakeholders

environments.

• Engage and manage freelance technical talent, ensuring projects are resourced appropriately

and efficiently.

• Build and maintain a strong network of trusted suppliers, specialists and production partners.

• Provide direction, mentoring and technical guidance to less-experienced members of the team.

• Set clear expectations for suppliers and freelancers and hold partners accountable for quality,

safety, schedule and budget.

• Contribute to improving production processes, technical standards, documentation and

knowledge-sharing across the business.

Experience and capabilities

You will ideally have:

• Significant experience (8 years +) in technical production or production management, including

responsibility for complex or large-scale live events and experiences.

• A strong record of leading projects from pitch or concept stage through to successful live

delivery.

• Broad knowledge of live-event technical disciplines and an understanding of how they integrate

within a complete production.

• Experience owning substantial technical budgets and managing project financial performance.

• Strong project-planning, scheduling, resource-management and prioritisation skills.

• Experience managing suppliers, venues, freelancers and multidisciplinary technical teams.

• A practical understanding of production health and safety, risk management and relevant

compliance requirements.

• The confidence and credibility to advise senior clients, creative leaders and business

stakeholders.

• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex technical

information accessible to different audiences.

• Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

under pressure.

• A working knowledge of Google Workspace, Asana and Microsoft Office within Mac OS.

• Experience with relevant design and technical documentation tools, such as AutoCAD or

Vectorworks and SketchUp.

• A strong understanding of current and emerging technologies and their application to live

experiences.

• A collaborative, calm and solutions-focused approach.

Location

• This role is based in London (SE1), United Kingdom.

• Lar&Co are open to conversation about WFH structure, although we see office time is valuable

and expected.

• Travel (national and international) will feature as part of the role.

• An ability to successfully obtain visas (arranged by Lar&Co) is essential.
