About Brainkind
Brainkind is a UK charity that helps people with brain injuries rebuild their lives. We support people whose injuries came from accidents, illness, substance misuse and other causes. Our teams help them relearn lost skills and reach their own goals.
Our staff care about their work and look out for each other. You’ll join a close, supportive team.
The role
You’ll lead occupational therapy at Fen House, working with adults with acquired brain injury. You may be the only OT on site, with supervision from a senior OT (sometimes remote). You’ll work closely with the wider team, families and outside professionals, using Brainkind’s neurobehavioural approach.
What you’ll do
- Manage your own caseload of patients with complex physical, mental health and behavioural needs
- Assess patients, plan their therapy and track their progress
- Help patients rebuild everyday skills: self-care, work, education and leisure
- Create therapy programmes and hand them over clearly to support workers and therapy assistants
- Use data to measure progress and adjust treatment
- Work with families, carers and outside agencies, adapting to each patient’s needs and background
What we’re looking for
- Degree or diploma in occupational therapy
- HCPC registration
- At least 4 years’ experience since qualifying, including 2 years in neurology (mixed caseloads count)
- Specialist knowledge of brain injury rehab, such as cognitive or upper limb rehabilitation
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive patients in work vehicles
What you’ll get
- 38 days annual leave including bank holidays
- Option to buy or sell up to 5 days leave each year
- Simply Health plan to help with routine healthcare costs
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Company pension and life assurance
- Eye care vouchers
- Long service and staff awards
- Free parking
- Training and CPD support
