About Zoo 55

Zoo 55 is an ITV Studios company established to drive global audience expansion and commercial growth across the digital media ecosystem. Operating at the intersection of content, culture, and technology, Zoo 55 creates, curates, and distributes ITV Studios’ iconic IP across four core pillars: FAST & DTC, Social Video, Gaming & Gambling (including Metavision), and Digital Marketing. Joining Zoo 55 means working in an agile, high-velocity environment alongside industry-leading creative and technical talent to scale world-class media platforms globally.

The Team

Global Partnerships Technology works in direct alignment with Zoo 55 to build the next generation of scalable media distribution platforms. The Zoo 55 Tech Squad is a dedicated delivery team established to industrialise foundational media workflows, eliminate manual operational drag, and build the scalable infrastructure required to support expanding global media operations. The team is responsible for delivering Phase 1 technical enhancements, including a Central Work Board, Cloud NAS infrastructure, an Ingest Portal, and automated pre-match media scripting.

The Role

As the Senior Platform Engineer for the Zoo 55 Tech Squad, you will lead the technical design and implementation of our Phase 1 infrastructure. Working closely with the Technical Business Analyst and operational leads, you will architect the foundational systems that industrialise our media workflows, acting as the primary technical authority for Cloud NAS integration, media ingest pipelines, and automated metadata scripting.

Main Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the architecture and hands-on development of the Zoo 55 Phase 1 technical deliverables, including Cloud NAS and the Ingest Portal.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Deploy and manage scalable cloud storage and media asset management infrastructure in alignment with ITV Group Tech standards.
  • Automation & Scripting: Design and build automated pre-match media scripting and API integrations to eliminate manual operational drag across social video and FAST workflows.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the Platform Engineer and QA Automation Engineer to ensure high-quality code and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices.
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Build and maintain robust deployment pipelines, ensuring continuous integration and zero-downtime releases for operational tooling.
  • Vendor Integration: Collaborate directly with external vendor technical teams to resolve complex architectural dependencies and PoC integrations.

Skills You’ll Need (Minimum Criteria)

  • Extensive experience in platform, cloud, or backend software engineering.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python, Go, or Node.js for backend automation and API integration.
  • Deep hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering scalable deployment pipelines (CI/CD, GitHub Actions).

Other Things We’re Looking For (Key Criteria)

  • Prior experience in the media broadcasting industry, specifically with digital asset management, Cloud NAS, or video ingest workflows.
  • AWS or GCP professional-level architectural certifications.
  • Strong understanding of agile delivery methodologies and test-driven development (TDD).
