The Role

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Senior Health Care Support Worker to join our Older People's Services and Stroke teams, where you will play an essential role in delivering high quality, person-centred care. Working alongside Registered Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will support patients through their healthcare journey while contributing to a safe, effective and caring environment.   • You will be based at The Vale of Leven Hospital
  • Working Pattern: TBC

Please note that the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality care and support to patients with compassion, dignity and respect
  • Undertake a range of delegated patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Perform clinical tasks including observations, blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis and other approved procedures
  • Recognise and report changes in patients' physical or psychological condition to the Registered Nurse
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Support the safe and efficient running of the clinical environment through housekeeping, equipment checks and stock control

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • SVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through experience, training and development
  • Demonstrable experience of providing patient care within a healthcare setting
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
  • Ability to work independently within agreed parameters and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of infection prevention, health and safety and safe working practices
  • Ability to undertake and maintain a range of clinical competencies relevant to the role
  • Caring, compassionate and professional approach with a commitment to delivering person-centred care
