Job Description

Your new company
You will be joining a large, fast-paced and highly commercial organisation within an exciting and growing eCommerce division. This is a high-profile finance opportunity where you will play a key role in shaping long-term strategy and supporting significant commercial and investment decisions across a developing digital business.

Your new role
Reporting into the Finance Director, you will take ownership of the long-term financial strategy for the marketplace business, ensuring major proposition and investment decisions are supported by robust financial analysis and clear commercial rationale. Acting as a senior Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with leadership across Commercial and Operations. You will lead strategic business cases, build financial models, evaluate commercial trade-offs and support Investment Committee papers for significant decisions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the financial assessment of significant strategic and proposition decisions, including business cases, scenario modelling and Investment Committee papers.
  • Leading financial thinking across Budget and Long-Term Plan cycles, constructively challenging senior stakeholders and underlying assumptions.
  • Partnering with Commercial leadership to develop marketplace range and category strategies.
  • Developing eCommerce economics, including commission structures, back margin and seller propositions.
  • Partnering with the business on proposition strategy, including loyalty, marketing investment and customer incentives.
  • Working with Operations leadership on fulfilment and retail media strategy, assessing areas such as delivery, returns and subscription models.
  • Taking overall ownership of marketplace financial performance, ensuring reporting provides clear insight into performance drivers, risks and opportunities.
  • Leading and developing the supporting FP&A resource and wider offshore finance team, driving greater insight, analysis and quality of output.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong commercial finance and strategic business partnering experience gained within a large, fast-paced organisation.
You should have:

  • Strong commercial finance and strategic business partnering experience.
  • Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills.
  • Experience developing robust business cases and evaluating commercial scenarios.
  • Strong planning and budgeting experience.
  • The credibility to challenge and influence senior stakeholders across different functions.
  • The ability to communicate complex financial analysis clearly and persuasively to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Experience operating effectively within an evolving, fast-paced environment.
  • Retail experience would be advantageous, particularly within eCommerce.

What you'll get in return
You'll be paid £70,000-£80,000 and work in a hybrid working pattern. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who wants to move beyond traditional reporting and FP&A into a role with significant exposure to strategy, investment decisions and commercial development. You will gain broad exposure to senior stakeholders and major strategic decisions, with the opportunity to influence the future development of a growing digital marketplace proposition while also developing leadership experience.
