Senior Employee Relations (ER) Advisor

We’re looking for a confident and people‑focused Senior ER Advisor to join our ER Services team. If you enjoy helping managers navigate tricky situations, keeping things fair and compliant, and making a real difference to how people experience work, this role is for you.
You’ll be the go‑to expert for ER advice across a multi‑site operation, supporting managers remotely with clear, practical guidance on everything from investigations and grievances to absence, suspensions and TUPE. You’ll also play a key part in keeping our processes running smoothly and ensuring cases move at pace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Giving managers straightforward, compliant ER guidance on disciplinary, grievance, absence, investigations and general casework.
- Handling escalated queries from HR Services and logging everything accurately in the CSM system.
- Helping managers prepare for meetings, understand their responsibilities and follow the right process.
- Producing accurate invite and outcome letters, checking details with ER Specialists when needed.
- Supporting TUPE processes and working with the wider team to keep transfers on track.
- Facilitating mediation sessions to help resolve workplace issues.
- Keeping a close eye on suspension cases to minimise cost and ensure timely progress.
- Completing redundancy calculations and supporting the admin that goes with them.
- Staying up to date with employment law, policy changes and segment‑specific requirements.
- Pitching in with other HR Services teams during busy periods or project work.
- Maintaining secure, accurate records in line with data protection requirements.
Essential Skills:
- Experience providing remote ER support across multiple sites.
- Strong understanding of employment legislation and HR policies.
- The ability to juggle a high‑volume caseload while staying organised and calm.
- Clear, confident communication written and verbal.
- A practical, problem‑solving mindset and a customer‑focused approach.
- Solid Microsoft Office skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in a Shared Service or busy HR environment.
- Knowledge of HR systems like SAP HR or CRM.
- Experience working in unionised environments, including settlement agreements or Employment Tribunals.
- Some understanding of restructuring, mobilisation and TUPE.
- CIPD qualification (or working towards it).
