Your new company
An independent ecological consultancy based in Bristol is looking to appoint a Senior Ecologist to join its growing team. With involvement across a diverse range of projects, from residential developments and infrastructure schemes through to nationally significant projects within the energy, water and nuclear sectors, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your consultancy career within a well-established and highly respected business.The team works on projects ranging from individual homeowner developments through to major infrastructure projects, including work associated with water pipelines, reservoirs and large-scale energy developments. Your new role
You will lead the delivery of ecological surveys, assessments and reports across a wide range of projects throughout the UK. Working alongside principal ecologists, you will gain exposure to varied project work while continuing to develop your technical and consultancy skills.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking protected species and habitat surveys
- Supporting ecological impact assessments and reporting
- Project management and client liaison
- Contributing to biodiversity and mitigation strategies
- Survey planning and project delivery
- Working collaboratively across a range of infrastructure, residential and environmental projects
- Mentoring juniors
What you'll need to succeed
- You must have a level 2 bat license
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Previous consultancy experience or relevant ecological survey experience
- Good understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
- Experience undertaking habitat and protected species surveys
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- CIEEM membership or working towards membership would be advantageous
