Due to our continued growth, we require a Senior Cost Consultant who will be responsible for the delivery of multiple fast-paced property investments programmes for major FMCG retail clients. This role sits in our consultancy business, specifically the commercial private sector so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to broaden their experience beyond retail in the delivery of fit-out and relocation projects for major corporate clients.
You will join our team of UK wide Project Cost and Commercial Managers, delivering several different investment types including, new store fit outs, extensions, refurbishments, planned asset renewals and initiative roll outs ranging in value from £100k - £20m each. Reporting into the Mace Account/Programme lead. The successful candidate will manage projects within a geographic area, ideally centred to your home location, however some UK wide or European travel should be expected.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Conducting feasibility studies and benchmarking
- Applying the value management techniques at the outset of a project.
- Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
- Managing the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including pre-qualification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
- Ensuring that post-contract cost variances and change control processes are managed effectively.
- Ensuring that cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively.
- Ensuring the production of monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client.
- Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
- Being a key interface with client and other consultants at all project stages.
- Marketing and business development duties including being mindful of the need to support the consultancy team in promoting Mace in the region.
- knowledge of the standard form of industry contracts.
- Assisting in the development of new business opportunities with existing and new clients.
You’ll need to have:
- Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice working with retail clients.
- Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
- Sound knowledge of the typical industry contract forms and procurement routes.
- Highly numerate, accurate and focused on detail.
- Strong understanding of industry best practice.
- Ability to build excellent relationships with clients, design teams and stakeholders.
- Comfortable with occasional European travel if required.
- A degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent.
- Professional membership i.e. MRICS/RICS or working towards.
