Job Description

Vulcain Engineering, an international engineering consultancy, supports global industrial leaders in their transition to a more responsible and sustainable future. We support our customers in the design, construction, commissioning and operation of their complex infrastructure projects that will shape the world of tomorrow. With operations in 17 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering high-value engineering expertise tailored to our clients’ most complex challenges.

In the UK, we have a key focus in the Nuclear sector, contributing to ground breaking projects, such as Hinkley Point C (HPC).

The Position: Senior Civil 3D Engineer (Structural Detailing & Constructability)

Vulcain Engineering is seeking experienced Civil Engineers with strong Civil 3D detailing expertise to support the delivery of major infrastructure and highly regulated engineering projects. Working within multidisciplinary design teams, you will review and assess detailed civil and reinforced concrete models, ensuring they meet design intent, constructability, applicable standards, and project requirements. This role is ideally suited to engineers with experience in Civil 3D, reinforced concrete detailing, BIM environments, design review, constructability, and complex infrastructure programmes. Based on the provided scope involving surveillance of 3D civil models, constructability reviews, compliance checks, clash detection, and reinforcement detailing.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior Civil 3D Engineer will include:

  • Review Civil 3D and BIM design models to verify accuracy, completeness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Undertake detailed constructability reviews to ensure designs can be safely and efficiently delivered on site.
  • Assess reinforced concrete detailing, reinforcement arrangements and associated design documentation.
  • Identify clashes, design coordination issues and interface risks within multidisciplinary design models.
  • Verify alignment with relevant UK engineering standards, specifications, codes and industry best practice.
  • Review model outputs against design intent, technical specifications and approved design methodologies.
  • Produce clear technical comments, review findings and corrective actions for design teams and stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement of design quality, constructability and digital engineering processes.

Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience using Civil 3D within major infrastructure, energy, transportation, nuclear or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of reinforced concrete detailing, reinforcement layouts and structural design deliverables.
  • Experience reviewing engineering models for compliance, quality, constructability and design intent.
  • Knowledge of BIM processes, digital design environments and multidisciplinary model coordination.
  • Familiarity with UK engineering standards, specifications and design governance requirements.
  • Experience identifying and resolving clashes, coordination issues and constructability concerns.
  • Strong technical communication skills with the ability to produce clear review comments and recommendations.

Join a growing engineering consultancy delivering some of the UK's most complex infrastructure programmes. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside leading technical specialists, contribute to nationally significant projects, and develop your expertise in digital engineering, Civil 3D, BIM and structural detailing within a collaborative environment.

Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).

Remuneration & Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior-level expertise, we encourage you to apply if this role aligns with your skills, or if you're open to discussing other opportunities within this discipline.
