Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Business Support Assistant to provide a comprehensive range of administrative support services on a fixed-term basis.

You will provide business support to the Health Improvement Team, which manages the Employability Service delivered across four HSCP services: ESTEEM, Family Nurse Partnership, Youth Health Service, and the Social Work Intensive Monitoring Service.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a fixed-term post until the 31st of March 2027
  • You will be working part-time hours, which are 18 hours per week, and you will work these Monday to Friday from 0900 until 1700
  • This post will be based at West House, Gartnavel General Hospital.
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide administrative support to ensure the effective delivery of the Employability Service, including supporting programme monitoring requirements, maintaining accurate data through the Hanlon Employability System, and working closely with Employability Coaches to help deliver a comprehensive service.

The role involves managing day-to-day administrative duties, handling confidential information and enquiries, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and taking accurate minutes.

You will also be responsible for planning and organising their workload effectively, using problem-solving skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines while working collaboratively within both a small team and a wider service network.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Proven experience in a business support or administrative role.
  • HNC or SVQ Level 3 in a Business Support-related subject, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Experience of managing competing priorities and solving problems effectively.
  • Significant experience of organising meetings and producing accurate, detailed minutes.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience of handling confidential information appropriately.
  • Experience of using electronic data management systems, preferably including the Hanlon Employability System (desirable).
