What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to join Group Internal Audit, the third line of defence within Bank of Ireland. GIA's purpose is to help make Bank of Ireland better by providing independent assurance on risk management and internal controls. As a Senior Audit Analyst, you will support risk based audits across a wide range of business areas, gaining valuable insight into how the Group operates while contributing to meaningful improvements.

In This Role, You Will

  • Support audit planning by conducting background research and preparing key audit documentation.
  • Evaluate internal controls and business processes by performing audit testing and documenting findings.
  • Contribute to audit engagements by completing assigned tasks accurately and meeting agreed timelines.
  • Keep the Audit Lead informed of progress, raising risks, issues, or delays at an early stage.
  • Take part in meetings with stakeholders to understand processes and support the communication of audit outcomes.


What will make you stand out?

You bring experience in internal or external audit within Financial Services and have a good understanding of audit methodologies and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards. You communicate clearly and confidently, both in writing and in conversations, enabling you to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

You are organised and detail focused, with the ability to manage your work and meet deadlines without compromising accuracy. You take ownership of your tasks, show initiative, and are motivated to learn and grow. A proactive approach and strong sense of accountability will help you succeed in this role.

Essential Qualifications

None needed but there must be a commitment to work towards a relevant Internal Auditor qualification (Certified Internal Auditor - CIA, or Certified Information System Auditor CISA) or Accountancy qualification ACA/ACCA which we will sponsor you for.

More about the team

You will join the UK Internal Audit Team, a core part of GIA, with colleagues based in Bristol and Belfast. The team delivers audit assignments across Bank of Ireland UK, a key subsidiary of the Group.

This is a hybrid role, based primarily at our Bristol or Belfast office. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
