Job Description
Contract Type: FTC - 12 months
Workplace: White City, London. Expectation is 2 days a week in the office
Closing Date: 21st September 2026
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000
Main purpose of the role
The ITV Insights Group will lead the business in putting insight in every key decision. For example; What content should we commission? Which audience is most commercially attractive for us? How do we optimise our product to improve view through rates? The answers to these questions and more will enable ITV to succeed in the future.
This role will be line managed by the Lead Analytics Developer, with the primary aim to develop data products to enable the analytics priorities of the Insights Group. The role will also work closely with the Head of Analytics and collaboratively with the analytics function within the Insights Group, as well as Central Insights and Data Science.
Specific responsibilities:
- Champion analytics engineering best practices within the Insights team by designing and structuring robust, SQL-based analytical pipelines.
- Maintain the M&E KPI pipeline, iterating on metrics as business needs evolve. Embed best practices by connecting Dataform to GitHub for seamless code sharing and version control.
- Design and implement rigorous data quality checks and automated tests, configuring proactive Slack notifications to alert the team to pipeline issues.
- Support the Central Data team to conduct thorough User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on newly developed data products.
- Collaborate closely with analysts and insights managers to design, build, and optimise tables that serve as the foundation for fast, efficient dashboards.
- Drive the migration of legacy processes over to BigQuery notebooks and pipelines, simultaneously reducing operational costs and improving query efficiency.
- Assist in rebuilding and maintaining ITVX streaming data as a robust dimensional model using dbt. This involves integrating complex datasets, such as content metadata, broadcast schedules, VOD windows, content contracts, and user demographics. Ensure all data products are comprehensively documented for the wider business.
- Explore and integrate new data sources to empower the Insights team. This includes building automated API connections (e.g. Barb) and proactively auditing varied sources (such as FAST schedule feeds) to guarantee our pipelines run on the most accurate data available.
- Bridge data and business value by acting as the link between source data and actionable insight. Help standardise data models, core metrics, and processes across the Insights team.
Experience Required:
- 2+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or analytics engineering
- Advanced SQL proficiency: Ability to write complex, performant, and clean code
- Data Pipeline Development: Ability to design, build, and automate robust ELT/ETL pipelines to turn raw data into clean, reliable data products
- Transformation & Version Control: Experience using frameworks like dbt or Dataform, alongside Git for code management, collaboration, and version control
- Cloud Data Warehouse experience: Hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery) or similar cloud platforms
- Data Modelling expertise: Understanding of data engineering principles and dimensional modelling (star schema, snowflake schema)
- Data Profiling: Strong ability to explore, compare, and validate different data sources to fully understand their structure and quirks
- A passion for TV Content, and ITV, with an excellent understanding and interest in television
