Summary

We're working with one of London's fastest-growing AI startups, building the platform that many of the world's leading firms rely on to run their internal processes. Having grown 10x over the past year, they're expanding their engineering team with the hire of a Senior AI Engineer.

They're looking for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking ownership, solving difficult technical problems, and building production AI systems that deliver measurable customer value.

About the Role

You'll own AI capabilities end-to-end, from agent architecture and tooling through to retrieval, evaluation frameworks and continuous iteration. Rather than working on isolated prototypes, you'll be responsible for production systems that are trusted by some of the world's most sophisticated organisations.

Working alongside an experienced team of startup operators and engineers, you'll contribute across the stack while helping shape the technical direction of the product. Recent projects have included custom agent orchestration frameworks, advanced document ingestion and search, AI-powered document authoring, citation systems, and infrastructure designed specifically for enterprise-grade AI applications.

The role offers significant autonomy, meaningful ownership, and the opportunity to have a direct impact on both the product and the business as it continues its rapid growth.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience building production AI systems, LLM applications or autonomous agents
• Commercial expertise with Python and modern backend development
• Experience with retrieval systems, search, evaluation frameworks and AI infrastructure
• Familiarity with technologies such as FastAPI, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ and OpenSearch
• Experience working within high-growth startups or leading technology companies
• Product-minded with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
• Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambitious environments
• Passion for building AI products that solve meaningful customer problems
