Job Description

Registered Veterinary Nurse - Career on the coast

Portsmouth Vets for Pets have an unmissable opportunity for a talented RVN to join our friendly team in our well-established and busy practice. We’re proud of our low colleague turnover with several colleagues having been with us for over 11 years!

About us

Our practice is independently run, by Practice Owner and vet Justyn and supported by a fantastic team of 3 Vets, 3 Qualified Nurses and 2 Student Nurse, as well as a fantastic non-clinical team and Practice Manager, all committed to delivering an outstanding level of service in the heart of our community.

The practice is purpose built to industry leading standards and we’ve recently invested in a brand-new ultrasound machine and direct plate radiography system as well as a K-laser, with plans to extend the practice in the not-too-distant future!

Located in the vibrant Southsea area of Portsmouth, offers the perfect blend of city convenience and coastal living. Just a short distance from the seafront, the area benefits from excellent transport links, a wide range of shops, cafés and local amenities, as well as beautiful green spaces nearby. With a lively community atmosphere and easy access to both Portsmouth city centre and the waterfront, it's an ideal location for those looking to enjoy a fantastic work-life balance by the coast.

The role

No two days are the same and you’ll get to use your full range of skills from claw clips to assisting with orthopaedic surgery, to nurse clinics and creating bonds with your clients. We have a dedicated non-clinical team, so our nurses don’t have any reception duties and as a nurse training practice there’s also the opportunity to become a clinical coach, if that’s where your strengths lie.

We really try to support all members of our team and offer a day off each week, paid overtime, protected admin time and a supportive environment. Although busy with a varied caseload we try to work at a steady pace with a well-managed diary to ensure we stay organised and finish on time as much as possible.

This is a part time position. Ideally Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 8.30am - 7pm with 1 in 4 Saturdays 9am - 12pm.

About you

You will be a dynamic and proactive nurse with solid all-round skills in delivering excellent patient and client care. You will also be a strong team player and have good communication skills.  Our nursing team already excel in their own areas of interest, but we are always looking at how we can improve our clinical standards even more so If you are keen to develop within your own area of interest, we would offer full support for further study.

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
