Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Staff Nurses to join a busy CCU and Cardiology ward in Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire.

Coronary Care is a 6 bedded ward specialising in Cardiology. We have 20 Cardiology beds on Ward 8 and this includes treating patients with Cardiac conditions such as heart failure, patients requiring pacemakers, and patients waiting angiograms in Morriston Hospital . We are part of developments within Withybush to start implanting PPM and Reveal devices in patients in Pembrokeshire, cardioversions in medical day unit.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to work within our dynamic working environment with a passion in caring for acutely ill patients.

You must have:

  • Good communication/interpersonal skills, high levels of commitment and dedication, caring attitude and the ability to work as part of a team are essential;
  • A desire to develop your experience and work alongside a team of staff as well as a passion for excellent patient care and outcomes;
  • The ability of doing things differently and challenging the status quo.

You will be required to demonstrate competence in assessing, planning and evaluating the care needs of a group of patients with support from your ward manager, colleagues and educator team.

We have an amazing opportunity for nurses new to Cardiology and that have keen interest to learn and expand their knowledge or nurses who wish to expand their existing cardiology knowledge.

  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 99 community pharmacies;
  • 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
