Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Warrington

An opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Galliford Try within our Asset Intelligence business unit

The role will ensure adherence with all Galliford Try and Asset Intelligence process', principals and guidelines in all aspects.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead the commercial management of a portfolio of Asset Intelligence projects, ensuring compliance with Galliford Try processes, governance, and commercial best practice.
  • Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Managing Quantity Surveyor in delivering commercial strategy and business objectives.
  • Build strong working relationships across commercial, operational, delivery, and design teams to drive collaboration and project success.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor cash flow forecasts, identifying and explaining any variances against budgets and projections.
  • Maximise cash collection, minimise WIP and debt exposure, and ensure timely submission of client applications and spend profiles.
  • Oversee subcontractor application assessments and payment processes, ensuring compliance with contractual and statutory requirements.
  • Produce accurate commercial reporting, including CVRs, forecasts, and month-end documentation, providing clear analysis of performance movements.
  • Support the delivery of project commercial targets by actively managing costs, risk, profitability, and contractual entitlement.
  • Assist with negotiating and administering client and subcontract agreements, ensuring appropriate risk allocation and contractual compliance.
  • Manage contractual notices, variations, early warnings, compensation events, and other commercial change controls within required timescales.
  • Work closely with project teams to prepare and agree quotations for additional cost and time, securing the business's contractual entitlement.
  • Attend and contribute to client and supply chain meetings, acting as a key commercial representative when required.
  • Coach and mentor junior commercial team members, supporting their development and promoting commercial awareness across the business.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records, registers, reports, and communications to support effective project governance and decision-making.

About You

  • Experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within infrastructure, utilities, engineering, or construction environments.
  • Strong commercial and financial management skills, with experience in forecasting, cost control, cash flow management, and reporting.
  • Sound understanding of contract administration, change management, and risk management principles.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse commercial data and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations and reporting.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to securing commercial outcomes.
  • Well organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of governance, compliance, and commercial best practice.
  • Experience coaching, supporting, or mentoring colleagues and contributing to team development.
  • Working towards or holding a relevant professional qualification (e.g. RICS or equivalent) would be advantageous.
