Position Overview

Asiacruit is supporting a growing beauty and cosmetics company in Indonesia in hiring a Purchasing Leader to oversee sourcing, supplier management, production monitoring, and procurement activities across China.

The position requires relocation to Indonesia, while involving frequent travel across China to visit suppliers and manufacturing facilities. The role will serve as a key liaison between the company's Indonesia team and its Chinese suppliers, ensuring supplier activities are properly monitored and aligned with requirements for quality, cost, production schedules, and shipment timelines.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced sourcing or procurement professional with strong knowledge of the Chinese supplier and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, commercially minded, highly independent, and comfortable managing supplier activities on the ground without daily supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, source, evaluate, and develop new suppliers and manufacturers in China according to business and product requirements.

• Compare supplier capabilities, pricing, quality, production capacity, lead times, and other commercial considerations.

• Support supplier negotiations and identify opportunities for cost competitiveness and improvement.

• Monitor new product and sample development, including specifications, revisions, timelines, and supplier follow-up.

• Monitor supplier production activities to ensure products are manufactured according to agreed specifications, quality requirements, and production schedules.

• Identify potential production, quality, or delivery issues early and coordinate with suppliers on corrective actions.

• Monitor shipment readiness, shipping timelines, and relevant supplier documentation.

• Conduct regular supplier and factory visits across different cities and provinces in China.

• Support supplier evaluation, factory audits, production inspections, and quality issue investigations when required.

• Maintain regular communication with Chinese suppliers and manufacturers and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding matters.

• Provide accurate and timely updates to the Indonesia team regarding supplier sourcing, samples, production, shipment status, risks, and corrective actions.

• Prepare regular supplier performance, sourcing, production, shipment, and cost-saving reports for management.

• Work closely with the Indonesia-based procurement and management teams on supplier development and sourcing activities.

• Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, sourcing efficiency, cost competitiveness, and supply reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, International Trade, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.

• 3–5+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supplier management, trading, manufacturing, factory management, international business, or export/import.

• Strong experience working with Chinese manufacturers or suppliers is highly preferred.

• Experience in beauty, cosmetics, skincare, personal care, packaging, FMCG, or related manufacturing industries is an advantage.

• Proven experience in supplier sourcing, evaluation, price comparison, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.

• Experience monitoring production, sample development, quality, and shipment activities.

• Basic understanding of international trade and export/import processes.

• Strong analytical, commercial, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong follow-up capability with excellent attention to detail.

• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple suppliers and projects.

• Native-level Chinese/Mandarin is required.

• Professional working proficiency in English is required for communication and reporting with the Indonesia team.

• Ability to communicate effectively with Indonesia-based management and teams is highly preferred.

• Willing and able to relocate to Indonesia.

• Willing to travel extensively within China for supplier and factory visits, including short-notice travel when required.

• Willing to travel to Indonesia approximately once every 3–4 months for business meetings and reporting sessions.
