Role

Role Overview

To take ownership of Industrial Projects from inception through to completion, ensuring that all customer, operational, commercial, legal, and HSE requirements are achieved. The Project Manager will work closely with Business Development, customers, subcontractors, DHL offices, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects successfully while maximising revenue and gross profit and minimising financial or operational risk.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Understand the services, deliverables, and commercial terms agreed between the Business Development team and the customer.
  • Review the potential revenue and gross profit of each project from the outset.
  • Identify and escalate projects that may be financially unviable and support the development of actions to mitigate potential losses.
  • Take full ownership of projects from inception through to successful completion.
  • Agree responsibilities and commercial terms with subcontractors and other participating DHL offices.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with customers, project leads, subcontractors, and DHL offices.
  • Provide project status updates on a twice-monthly basis, including revenue and gross profit performance.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with customers and project leads to identify opportunities for additional business or project expansion.
  • Maximise the gross profit potential of each project while minimising financial losses.
  • Ensure project billing is completed accurately and monitor unbilled revenue and overdue payments.
  • Take appropriate action where payment disputes could delay invoice settlement.
  • Ensure a suitable Standard Operating Procedure is received or developed with the Business Development team responsible for securing the business.
  • Ensure Incoterms and the responsibilities of all parties are clearly understood for every project.
  • Ensure all projects comply with DHL HSE requirements, legal obligations, and applicable industry standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with local and overseas DHL Industrial Projects offices.
  • Share project knowledge, experience, and best practice with Industrial Projects colleagues
  • Ensures that all interactions are compliant with DPDHL Code of Conduct and other compliance requirements e.g. anti-corruption
  • Contribute to the First Choice continuous improvement program


Skills and Experience:


  • Minimum three years’ project experience.
  • Experience managing at least two projects from inception through to completion.
  • Strong understanding of project profitability, revenue, gross profit, billing, and financial risk.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Self-directed and capable of taking ownership of work.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of HSE, legal, and industry compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise and MMS would be advantageous, although training may be provided.
  • Experience working with subcontractors, overseas offices, and multiple project stakeholders would be advantageous.

HOURS/SHIFT PATTERN: 37.5 hours per week

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
