About us:

Within Airbus Defence and Space, Digital Payload Centre of Competence is responsible for Communications Satellites sub-systems and equipment. Our products contribute to the functionality and performance of Telecommunications satellites worldwide, allowing people to connect globally and providing support to on ground services internationally.

Based in Portsmouth UK, you will join a transnational team working with colleagues from around the UK and Europe as part of the delivery team and wider Space Engineering Function within Airbus Defence and Space.

By joining us you will be working with a team dedicated to delivering world-class aerospace, defence and security solutions, combining cutting edge innovation and decades of Engineering excellence.

What you will be doing:

The Engineering Delivery Internship will support the Digital Payload Centre of Competence Project Delivery Team. This team consists of about 30+ Project Managers and Development Responsibles delivering a variety of Equipment, Antenna and Engineering projects.

The ultimate goal of the team is to achieve project objectives (time, scope, cost, quality) to customer satisfaction in compliance with internal and external rules and regulations.

  • Define, implement and drive a project team/organization all along the project phases, including people coming from other functions (matrix organizations);
  • Ensure effective integration of lessons learnt;
  • Ensure active risk and opportunity and contract (internal or external) management;
  • Ensure effective management of partners and suppliers.

The Engineering Delivery Intern will provide support by

  • Running small projects or work packages;
  • Administering and managing cross project process and governance;
  • Building and running tools, KPI's and action trackers to improve team efficiency.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Studying towards a degree in Engineering, Physics or Business;

  • Interest in Project, Business or Engineering Management;

  • Knowledge of Google business tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc);

  • An energetic, approachable team player who brings a positive mindset and a hands-on, proactive approach to everyday challenges.

This Job Request will be allocated to the projected Joint-Venture scope towards a leading European player in space.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
