Job Description

Senior Transformation Programme Director

Team

Location AMAZE Central - Holborn

County Greater London

Ref # POS_18382

Closing Date 21-Sep-2026

As we shape the next chapter of our growth, we're reimagining what a modern, relationship-led bank can be. This is a rare opportunity to join a business that is thinking boldly about its future, challenging traditional ways of working and creating the foundations for long-term success. We're looking for people who are energised by ambition, excited by possibility and motivated by the opportunity to help shape what comes next.

As our Senior Transformation Programme Director, you will turn ambition into delivery, bringing together senior leaders, strategic partners and cross-functional teams to modernise how Metro Bank serves, operates and grows.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the transformation programme, setting up the delivery rhythm, governance, controls and ways of working needed to move at pace.
  • Act as the senior integrator across technology, data, AI, operations, risk, finance, people and business teams, making sure the programme delivers as one enterprise agenda.
  • Shape and challenge delivery choices with ExCo, Board-level stakeholders and strategic partners, bringing clarity to complex trade-offs and decisions.
  • Build a single, credible view of milestones, investment, risks, dependencies and benefits, ensuring leaders have the insight they need to act quickly.
  • Create the conditions for delivery: clear ownership, strong prioritisation, disciplined execution and the freedom to design better customer and colleague experiences from the ground up.
  • Ensure data, AI and technology capabilities are delivered securely, responsibly and in line with customer, conduct, resilience and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing programme team, creating a culture of pace, accountability, constructive challenge and responsible risk-taking.

And... we are a bank, so risk is part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank, and have the confidence to call out concerns early.

What You Will Need

  • Extensive experience leading complex, enterprise-wide transformation, programme or portfolio delivery in banking, financial services, FinTech or another regulated environment.
  • A track record of taking large-scale change from early concept through to structured delivery, measurable outcomes and sustained adoption.
  • Confidence operating with ExCo and Board-level stakeholders, simplifying complexity and influencing strategic decisions with pace and credibility.
  • Strong understanding of how technology, data, AI, digital channels, operating model and customer experience come together to deliver commercial value.
  • Experience setting up governance, delivery assurance, risk management, benefits tracking and executive reporting across multiple workstreams and sponsors.
  • Proven ability to lead senior, cross-functional teams and strategic suppliers through ambiguity, challenge and momentum.
  • Sound judgement around regulation, conduct, operational resilience, responsible AI and customer outcomes.

Our promise to you

  • We will make sure that you are well-rewarded by providing you with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus, and a wide range of benefits including a generous holiday allowance, pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, and access to our colleague discount portal
  • We will offer you hybrid working that is genuinely flexible, giving you greater freedom to balance where and how you work around your role and home-life

Important Footnote

Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!
