Starting salary £41,528 with incremental increases

Purpose Of Job

Working under the Safety Manager the Product Safety Practitioner will support and facilitate the four key components that support the Safety Management System (SMS):


  • Safety policy and objectives
  • Safety risk management
  • Safety assurance
  • Safety promotion


Principal accountabilities:

Working under the Safety Manager, the Safety Practitioner will primarily support the Safety Risk Management (SRM) activity. The job holder will:


  • Support the day-to-day activities within the Safety Office
  • Assess the product safety impact of operational changes (eg work transfer or relocation of plant/equipment)
  • Develop & implement root cause corrective action plans and control plans
  • Assist SMS and Human Factors training development and delivery of training Programmes
  • Assess the effectiveness of SMS training and safety promotion
  • Analyse results of safety data to improve the organisations Safety Management System (SMS), including Governance of SPI’s & escalation of performance issues
  • Create and maintain a Hazard Log Register
  • Conduct Risk assessments and influence mitigation processes
  • Conduct internal safety investigation


Candidate Requirements

Candidates must:


  • Possess a minimum of a HNC in an Engineering discipline and have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience within Quality, Engineering, Operations Engineering/Methods/Manufacturing or Operations.
  • Good understanding of QMS and Regulatory requirements and Company approvals.
  • Have an awareness of SMS principles
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of risk management processes and how to identify and manage hazards


Desireable Experience


  • An appreciation for human and organisational influences
  • Awareness of change management processes and the hazards presented by change
