Job Description

About us

Join one of the UK’s fastest growing and award-winning banks.

We are a team of ambitious, passionate, hardworking, and committed people who have successfully created and launched one of the UK’s newest specialist property finance banks. As we embark on an exciting journey of growth, we are seeking exceptional new team members who possess both the ambition and drive to contribute to our vision. At GB Bank, we believe that career progression should not only be achievable but accelerated, enabling our employees to reach their potential in a supportive and dynamic atmosphere.

Our environment is fast-paced and collaborative, where your efforts are recognised, rewarded, and make a tangible impact. We take pride in fostering and open and inclusive culture that not only embraces change but also encourages continuous learning and professional development.

In this role, you will:

Have a hands-on approach to manage activities that deliver new and enhanced propositions, designed to achieve and optimise lending volume and margin targets in line with the Bank’s objectives and commercial strategies. Your subject matter expertise in mortgages & bridging will enable the organisation to be a market leader in the BTL sector and bridging finance.

The Product & Proposition Manager is the accountable business lead for taking products and propositions from concept through to successful customer and technical implementation. The role leads and coordinates the cross-functional delivery effort, ensuring that all contributing teams understand their responsibilities and deliver to agreed requirements and timescales. While individual functions remain accountable for their specialist areas, the Product & Proposition Manager owns the end-to-end product outcome and drives the organisation collectively towards successful launch and ongoing performance.

Alignment to the Bank’s customer and relationship focused ambition and values is essential. Influence and outline wider proposition objectives and principles, e.g., broker and customer journeys and capability, marketing and sales strategies to achieve product strategy and commercial objectives.

Key deliverables measured against lending margins/volume/product mix, coupled with positive customer and intermediary outcomes and feedback, whilst meeting all regulatory requirements.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Lead the end-to-end development and delivery of lending propositions for lending markets, from concept through to launch, ensuring they are aligned with market trends, customer needs, and business objectives.

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to influence and support the product & proposition agenda; mainly to deal with criteria, policy & concentrations, capital markets, product proposals, implementation, customer journeys, online tools, capacity/service provided, and commercial returns.

• Agree and deliver enhancements to the lending propositions, providing solutions that address the specific needs of the Bank’s target market in these product segments.

• Lead detailed market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for new products and enhancements to existing propositions in the unregulated space and use insights to shape product strategy and positioning.

• Ensure competitor analysis is kept up to date to ensure GB Bank is priced competitively within the relevant sectors.

• Input & coordinate the assessment of proposed pricing into the pricing model to ensure they meet the required financial parameters.

• Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new and enhanced products, including pricing, and positioning.

• Creating and present Governance papers and progress/ performance updates regarding Buy to Let & Bridging sectors to senior stakeholders at key forums.

• Engage and involve mortgage intermediaries (+ networks, clubs and packagers) and sales team regularly on an ongoing basis to ensure their input and advice is incorporated into our products, criteria, achievement of objectives, and overall customer proposition. Assist in the development of new strategic relationships.

• Monitor mortgage range and intermediary performance quality (e.g. conversion rates, loan delinquency) with the MD, CFO and CRO.

• End-to-end product ownership: Lead the complete product and proposition lifecycle from initial idea and customer need through business case, design, approval, build, testing, operational readiness, launch, implementation and post-launch reviews including optimisation.

• Cross-functional delivery leadership: Act as the central lead for product delivery, bringing together and driving all required functions to deliver agreed product outcomes. Establish clear responsibilities, dependencies, deliverables and timescales, and actively challenge slippage or barriers to delivery.

• Product requirements and technical implementation: Translate the proposition into clear business, customer, operational and technical requirements, working closely with Technology and Change teams to ensure systems, integrations, workflows, and controls support the intended proposition.

• Data and management information: Define and coordinate the data and MI requirements for new and changed products, including source data, product identification, accounting and regulatory reporting requirements, customer outcomes, performance monitoring and downstream reporting. Ensure requirements are agreed with relevant data owners before implementation.

• Stakeholder mobilisation: Create and maintain the overall product delivery plan and ensure that Credit, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Technology, Operations, Marketing and Customer Experience are engaged at the appropriate stages. The role should drive the process rather than rely on individual functions to coordinate themselves.

• Governance and approvals: Lead products through the Bank's governance and approval framework, ensuring appropriate product assessments, risk assessments, Consumer Duty considerations, financial analysis, operational readiness and senior management or committee approvals are completed before launch.

• Product lifecycle management: Maintain accountability throughout the product lifecycle, including periodic product reviews, material changes, remediation and, where appropriate, product withdrawal or migration. Ensure material changes to approved product design, pricing, fees, criteria, distribution, customer journey or operating model are identified, impact-assessed and returned through appropriate governance before implementation where required

• Regulatory and customer outcomes: Ensure products are designed, distributed and managed with appropriate consideration of applicable UK regulatory requirements, including Consumer Duty, product governance and the needs and characteristics of the identified target market
