Quix Recruitment Group
Private Client Tax Manager / Senior Manager (Channel Islands)
Requirements
Requires a professional qualification such as ACA, CA, ACCA, CTA, or ATT with competent knowledge of Jersey and UK personal tax. Candidates must have previous practice accounting experience and strong communication skills for client engagement.
Job Description
Our client is a leading global professional services firm with offices across the Crown Dependencies (Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man), forming part of a wider island-based network of several thousand professionals spanning multiple offshore jurisdictions. The firm provides audit, tax and advisory services to a broad client base, with particular strength in insurance, asset management and international business.
The Family Office and Private Client (FOPC) tax team is recruiting a Private Client Tax Manager or Senior Manager to support the rapid growth of its private client offering. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team, heavily involved in growing the private client practice and maintaining relationships with valued clients.
The role
You will report directly to the Head of Family Office and Private Client, working closely with the wider tax department. You will manage a portfolio of private clients — including high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and the structures they use to manage their wealth. The role is a split between tax reporting and compliance services and the delivery of regular advice to clients within the portfolio, with external-facing scope in business development and networking.
Key responsibilities
- Regularly reviewing written tax advice in the form of memos, letters, reports and email correspondence
- Managing a diverse portfolio of individual clients with oversight of the tax reporting cycle, covering both Jersey and UK tax affairs
- Developing strong, trusted relationships within the Jersey fiduciary and private client market, including attending business events and hosting training sessions on private client topics
- Preparing proposal and tender documents for new client relationships and engagements
- Identifying and supporting business development opportunities, with guidance to build confidence in external networking and client engagement
- Managing engagement finances — work in progress, billing, cash collection and job budgeting
- Building strong internal relationships across service lines including international, corporate and AEOI, and with business services teams
- Acting as a central point of contact for clients, providing expert advice on the tax implications of their affairs
- Keeping up to date with local and international tax developments and assisting with client news bulletins
- Mentoring and coaching junior team members, including feedback and training
Requirements
- Qualified ACA, CA, ACCA, CTA, ATT or equivalent
- Competent knowledge of Jersey and UK personal tax issues, including income, capital gains, inheritance and other taxes
- Previous experience in a practice accounting environment, with familiarity with client onboarding and risk management procedures
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders
- A strong sense of initiative and a proven ability to manage large, varied projects with resilience under pressure
What's on offer
- A competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience
- Hybrid working with an open-door culture and opportunities for secondments abroad
- A genuine emphasis on work-life balance, health and wellbeing
- Flexible vacation scheme
- Medical and pension schemes
- Visa sponsorship and relocation support for the successful candidate
