About the role
At Nexperia, we are continuously advancing Power MOSFET technologies that enable the next generation of automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics. As a Principal Modelling Engineer, you will play a critical role in introducing new world-leading Power MOSFET technologies through advanced modelling, simulation, and virtual prototyping.
This role is suited to highly motivated engineers who enjoy pushing technological boundaries and solving complex technical challenges. You will combine deep expertise in device physics, behavioural modelling, and simulation with strong collaboration across product development, applications, and customer-facing teams.
What you will do
- Contribute to high-profile, business-critical platform release projects for new Power MOSFET technologies
- Develop, validate, and maintain compact device models
- Perform virtual prototyping and system simulations to predict product and application performance
- Drive continuous improvements in model accuracy, stability, convergence, and extraction methodologies
- Develop simulation support for DC-DC converters, motor controllers, and other power applications
- Support customers with design and modelling expertise to accelerate product adoption
- Create technical launch materials and modelling support packages for new products
- Serve as a recognised technical expert and provide guidance across the wider engineering organisation
- Produce and maintain project documentation throughout the development lifecycle
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued development of modelling capabilities across the team
What you will bring
- Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 6 years of experience in power semiconductors or a related technical field
- Experience with DrMOS and Smart Power Stage technologies
- Knowledge of semiconductor packaging and device characterisation techniques
- Experience supporting customer design activities and application development
- Track record of technical leadership within semiconductor product development environments
- Expert understanding of Power MOSFET device physics and electrical behaviour
- Strong experience with behavioural modelling and virtual prototyping of integrated circuit blocks
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, device structures, and their interactions
- Experience with Compact SPICE modelling, Verilog-A, and VHDL-AMS
- Hands-on experience with simulation and design tools such as TCAD, ICCAP, LTspice, Cadence, KLayout, and R3D
- Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and programming skills, including Python or similar languages
