General Summary:

The Pricing & Market Access Associate Director is responsible for supporting the development of Market Access strategies for products or indications, as well as partnering cross-functionally on the Commercial and Development strategies.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supports the development of core pricing & access deliverables operating within the global commercial model, including but not limited to, NICE submissions, evidence packages and other HTA deliverables
  • Supports the development of Market Access strategies reporting into the Senior Director for Market Access, Uk & Ireland
  • Supports the Senior Director, Market Access in development and execution of payer negotiation for Vertex's products
  • Ensures the payer position is consistently represented to internal cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ensures robust strategic input into commercialization and development decisions, working cross functionally to represent access priorities (working with HEOR, GAPP, medical, commercial, others)
  • Contributes to strategies and forecasts with in-depth market research, environmental data & analogs
  • Contributes to execution of pricing and access strategy, including the localization of access strategy, tactical execution and pricing business cases
  • Supports the Senior Director in keeping abreast of relevant access developments in the external environment and consideration of relevance for Vertex Pharmaceuticals
  • Manage day-to day relationships with access consultants (for delivery of HTA submissions

Knowledge And Skills

  • Working knowledge of UK healthcare systems, including in-depth experience working with NICE, NHSE, and other HTA/ payer organisations
  • Ability to think strategically and make sound pricing and market access insights/recommendations
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and ability to develop and willingness to pilot creative solutions to complex problems
  • Display solid ethics and fully comply with all regulatory, legal and industry codes of conduct
  • Ability to navigate and be successful on fast pace environment
  • Strong practical, quantitative and analytical skills combined with a sound understanding of how to successfully apply pricing & reimbursement / HEOR principles to support Vertex
  • Exhibits outstanding written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively write and deliver presentations to professionals at all levels within Vertex
  • Relationship building at all levels of the organization and across geographies, and relationship building with key external stakeholders (NHSE negotiation team)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate difficult concepts and persuade others

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Typically requires 8 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Typically requires experience of development of HTA submissions and negotiation of successful reimbursement outcomes with NICE, NHSE, and other UK and/or Irish payer (preferred) and HTA organisations
  • Experience contributing to evidence generation plans
  • Experience delivering pricing strategies, contributing to internal forecasting and financial modelling
  • Experience creating advocacy and external engagement plans - working cross functionally and compliantly to deliver access strategies
