Job Description
City St George's is the University of business, practice, and the professions. Formed in 2024 through the merger of City, University of London, and St George's, University of London, we educate more than 27,000 students from over 170 countries across our three campuses in Clerkenwell, Moorgate, and Tooting. Our breadth is distinctive, spanning health, business, law, creativity, communications, and science and technology. We bring together world-leading expertise across disciplines from clinical practice and public health to finance, law, and the creative industries. This breadth creates distinctive opportunities for education, research, and practice, including through our interdisciplinary strengths in health and our deep connections to business, the professions, the NHS, and other partners.
As Professor Sir Anthony Finklestein’s outstanding six-year term as President comes to an end, we are seeking a new President to lead City St George's at a pivotal moment in our history and in an increasingly challenging higher education environment. With a foundation of financial stability and the scale and opportunity created by our merger, our next President will shape the future of a university with a clear and distinctive purpose and cement our position as the University of business, practice, and the professions. Our Vision & Strategy 2035 sets our direction to deliver outstanding education, undertake research at the frontier of practice, and deepen our engagement with the communities we serve. The President will lead its delivery.
To deliver this ambitious agenda, we are seeking a President who combines profound academic vision with the strategic acumen and management expertise to lead a complex, multi-school institution. They will possess the credibility to bring our academic community together through significant change, working in partnership with staff, students, and Council to set clear priorities and build a culture of shared accountability and high performance.
They will also be a compelling external advocate for City St George's, strengthening our relationships and championing our distinctive identity in London, nationally, and internationally. Above all, they will share our sense of purpose and the values that define us: We care, We learn, We act.
