Generator Engineer – UK Visa Sponsorship

Depot Based | Solihull, West Midlands | Permanent Position | Sponsorship Available

We are currently recruiting for three Generator Engineer positions with a leading power generation and equipment rental business, based at their depot in Solihull, West Midlands.

These are excellent opportunities for experienced generator engineers currently living outside the UK who are looking to relocate to the United Kingdom. UK visa sponsorship is available for suitable candidates.

You will join an established engineering team responsible for the inspection, servicing, repair and preparation of a large fleet of diesel generators and power generation equipment.

The Role

You will be responsible for ensuring generators are fully serviced, repaired, tested and ready for deployment to customer sites across the UK. The role is hands-on and would suit an engineer with strong practical experience working on diesel engines, generators, electrical systems and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair diesel generators and associated power generation equipment.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Carry out engine servicing, repairs, strip-downs and rebuilds.
  • Test generators and associated equipment to ensure they are safe and fully operational.
  • Carry out inspections on equipment returning from hire and identify required repairs.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and pre-delivery inspections.
  • Fault-find on electrical systems, control panels and generator controls.
  • Prepare equipment for customer deployment.
  • Complete accurate service records and maintenance documentation.
  • Work closely with the depot and operations teams to ensure equipment is available when required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and engineering standards.

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in engineers with previous experience working on:

  • Diesel generators / gensets
  • Power generation equipment
  • Industrial engines
  • Heavy plant and machinery
  • Generator hire or rental equipment
  • Construction plant
  • Industrial mechanical/electrical equipment
  • Marine or other diesel-engine environments

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong practical experience working with generators, diesel engines or similar equipment.
  • Good understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs independently.
  • Workshop, depot, plant or equipment maintenance experience.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to relocate to Solihull, UK.
  • Ability to meet the requirements for UK visa sponsorship.

UK qualifications are not essential where you can demonstrate strong relevant engineering experience and appropriate technical qualifications from your home country.

This is a depot/workshop-based position. You will not be required to work as a travelling field engineer.
