Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician based at University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours
14.5 hours per week
You work on a Thursday and Friday on the following pattern:
Week 1 - Thursday 0830 till 1630 & Friday 0830 till 1600
Week 2 - Thursday 0830 till 1600 & Friday 0830 till 1630.
You will participate in the weekend, departmental and public holiday rotas. The pharmacy service is provided from 8am to 8pm in the CAU and the successful candidate will participate in this extended hours’ rota. In accordance with AFC terms and conditions you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
You will participate in a rotational rota covering Dispensary, Distribution, Aseptic, Hubs and Ward areas playing a key role in the supply of medicines and collaborate closely with the pharmacy team and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).
You will support the training and development of members of the pharmacy team and benefit from the opportunity to enrol in the Vocational Foundation Programme. In addition, you will participate in supporting the provision of the department dispensary service undertaking your role as an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post
You will possess Diploma/SQA National Certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and be registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council where you will undertake revalidation and maintain a portfolio of personal and professional development.
You will have good communication skills and experience of working with Office 365.
Experience in all areas of hospital pharmacy would be an advantage however full training will be provided.
