Job Description

Spire Portsmouth Hospital | Havant | Pharmacy Technician | Part Time - 26 hours pw | Fixed Term Contract | Pharmacy | Private Hospital 

Spire Portsmouth Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Department on a fixed term contract.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Assist the pharmacy team in providing an exemplary pharmacy service to the hospital and its patients, working within your level of competence
  • Contribute to the safe and effective use of medicines
  • Undertake routine delegated activities accurately and in line with current legislation, professional standards, and Spire Healthcare policies and procedures
  • Prepare yourself, equipment, materials, and medicines appropriately for specific tasks
  • Accurately dispense medicines according to prescriptions, ensuring all items are checked by a pharmacist
  • Prepare small batches of pre‑packed and/or over‑labelled medicines as required, ensuring pharmacist verification
  • Accurately record data and information relating to activities and ensure this is passed to the appropriate team member or filed correctly
  • Identify and report any significant changes within the pharmacy department or service that may impact patient health and wellbeing

Who are we looking for?

  • Previous experience within a pharmacy department (hospital or community)
  • Strong team‑working skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly numerate and literate
  • Administrative experience involving checking and monitoring processes
  • Ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations in a professional and supportive manner

Contract:- Fixed Term Contract | Part Time

Working Hours:- 26 hours per week | Week 1 Monday, Thursday and Friday alternating with week 2 Wednesday Thursday and Friday.
