Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Peer Recovery Worker based at Ailsa Hospital. This post is offered on a fixed-term basis until 31/03/2027.

Hours

36 hours per week, working 0900-1700 over 5 days (part time will be considered)

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What You Will Do

Using your lived experience of drug and/or alcohol recovery or experience of supporting a family/loved one, you will provide one-to-one and group peer support to individuals accessing services. Working within the principles of hope, personal responsibility, education, self-advocacy, and support, you will encourage and empower people on their recovery journey.

You will act as a positive role model, promoting recovery-focused approaches, supporting individuals to build confidence and independence, and helping to create an environment that encourages and sustains recovery.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post

SVQ 3 in healthcare or relevant previous experience working with people who have mental health and/or Alcohol and Drug problems.
