About the Role
We are looking for a Day Operator to join our Fuel Specialties business at our manufacturing site in Ellesmere Port.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operator to play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of a high-hazard chemical manufacturing plant. The successful candidate will support plant operations, material movements, logistics activities and waste management, ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with site procedures.
In this role, you will:
- Receive, prepare and move raw materials, finished products and waste streams safely and in line with procedures.
- Check and complete operational documentation, ensuring the Site ISO Tracker system is updated promptly.
- Carry out bulk transfers, ISO tank and IBC movements, shunting activities and associated documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and escalate logistical issues that could affect production, dispatch or stock control.
- Operate process plant equipment and recipe-driven Distributed Control System, or DCS, systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and site standards.
- Prepare, heat, load and offload materials in line with production requirements.
- Monitor plant conditions, accurately record information and actions, and ensure samples are arranged and submitted on time.
- Apply safe systems of work when handling hazardous, flammable, toxic, heated or pressurised materials.
- Understand the plant’s Basis of Safety and follow the relevant control measures.
- Prepare Permit to Work documentation and process equipment for maintenance activities.
- Work closely with shift teams, supervisors, logistics, maintenance and quality teams, escalating issues when required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be safety-conscious, dependable and able to work effectively in a high-hazard chemical manufacturing environment.
You will have:
- An NVQ Level 2 qualification in Process Plant Operations, or equivalent relevant operational experience.
- Experience working in a high-hazard chemical manufacturing or process plant environment.
- A good understanding of safe systems of work, hazardous chemical handling and the importance of following procedures.
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks as operational demands change.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operations, logistics, maintenance and quality teams.
- A willingness to complete Forklift Truck and shunting training where required.
Experience of bulk transfers, ISO tank movements, waste handling and chemical logistics would be advantageous. A valid Forklift Truck licence is desirable.
