Candidates must hold a degree or Master's in Occupational Therapy and be registered with the HCPC. Proven professional practice across various clinical settings and the ability to travel within community settings are required.

About The Role

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our popular Band 5 Occupational Therapy rotation at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. This is a fixed term post - 6 months contract.

Rotations are based at Pinderfields, Pontefract, Dewsbury and Community. Rotations are 6 monthly and include:

  • Respiratory and surgery
  • Trauma, orthopaedics and amputees
  • Hospital avoidance and complex care
  • Complex care
  • Neurology
  • Spinal Injuries
  • Community - MY Therapy
  • Children
  • Burns Therapy
  • Hand Therapy

This is a 7day service, and the post holder will participate in the rota.

Main duties

Clinical

  • Manage a caseload using the OT process.
  • Complete assessments, deliver interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Prescribe equipment/adaptations and conduct assessments in ward, home, and community settings.
  • Adapt communication and treatment for complex needs.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, MDT, and external agencies.
  • Participate in MDT planning and provide clear advice on treatment and equipment.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate clinical records, reports, and statistics.
  • Countersign documentation from unregistered staff.

Leadership

  • Ensure practice meets professional/Trust standards.
  • Support delegation and supervision of junior staff.
  • Contribute to service quality and deputise for seniors.

Training

  • Support training and supervision of students and staff.
  • Contribute to inservice education and share CPD learning.

Key Requirements

  • Degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with HCPC
  • Evidence of professional practice with a range of conditions in a variety of clinical settings
  • Ability to travel within a community setting
