Veteris 24-7 Emergency & Critical Care
Mobile Emergency Veterinary Surgeon - London
Requirements
Must have MRCVS registration or eligibility to register and a valid driving licence. Open to all experience levels, from new graduates to seasoned clinicians.
Job Description
About Us
Veteris is an independent veterinary service providing home emergency care across Greater London, backed by our own 24/7 emergency and critical care hospitals in Shoreditch, Clapham, Twickenham, and Temple Fortune.
We are an ECC-only service. Our team is young, close-knit and genuinely supportive, and a number of our senior clinicians began their careers with us as mobile vets.
The Role
As a mobile emergency veterinary surgeon, you will see patients in their own homes across London, with our hospital team and a remote senior clinician behind you throughout every shift.
You'll work 9-hour shifts at a calm pace, setting the length of your own consultations: time to investigate properly, carry out procedures, and sit with owners while they take in difficult news. The case mix ranges from stable presentations to genuine emergencies, and you can follow your critical patients through to our hospital if they need admitting.
Rotas run in 6-week blocks, 24 shifts across 42 days, built around your availability and agreed together with the team.
What we offer:
- £35–50 per hour, direct employment
- Vehicle and all clinical equipment provided
- Training in emergency medicine, point-of-care ultrasonography, surgery, and much more
- Senior support on our clinical helpline throughout every shift
- RCVS registration fee, VDS cover, and a £1,000 CPD allowance (pro rata)
- A clear route into hospital ECC work. New graduates typically make that move after 12–18 months; sooner if you join us with experience
- Visa fully organised and paid for by Veteris, including for new graduates
What we're looking for:
- MRCVS registration, or eligibility to register
- A full manual driving licence, or an automatic licence and a commitment to convert
- Every level of experience, from new graduates to seasoned clinicians. We train, we coach, and we've done this many times
- Kind, confident communication with owners at a difficult moment
- The judgement to work independently, and the good sense to call for support when you need it
The process
Before you commit to anything, we'd encourage you to come and spend a day or two shadowing the team. Meet the people, see how we work, and decide whether we're the right fit for you, with no obligation on either side.
