Requirements
Candidates should have at least three years of experience in Plant/Facilities Engineering or a related environment, along with experience in delivering complex projects. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and a strong understanding of mechanical/HVAC services are essential.
Job Description
We have an amazing permanent position available for a Mechanical Project Engineer with a world leading Formula 1 business, based in Brixworth, Northamptonshire.
You will be a key member within the team and we are looking for a candidate with the experience to support with the design and development of F1 test cell facilities, manufacturing facilities and building services infrastructure.
The person that secures this position will be crucial to the success of the team on its F1 and Advanced Engineering projects.
This is a fast paced, highly dynamic and constantly demanding environment. We are looking for a candidate with at least three years’ experience in a Plant/Facilities and infrastructure Engineering or in a production environment or a related development environment, and at least three years of experience of delivering complex projects across many engineering disciplines.
Reporting to the Facilities Programme Manager you will be required to:
- Be the Mechanical Projects Engineer for all facility systems, services & infrastructure across this campus.
- Technically own, monitor, manage and continually enhance the mechanical systems and infrastructure services on site.
- Technically specify, manage and continually enhance the mechanical infrastructure on new & on-going projects & operations for all mechanical/HVAC systems and requirements for all buildings and areas on site.
- Ensure all Projects & programmes within responsibility support requirements of ISO50001 Energy Management standard and document all project work to evidence compliance.
- Technically own, monitor, manage and update all mechanical/HVAC and infrastructure drawings in Auto-CAD 2D, creating pdf versions for end users. Therefore you will need to be conversant with Auto-CAD 2D.
- Working as part of the Facilities Programme Management team, Plan, orchestrate, and lead allocated Facilities Capital projects & cross-functional projects. You would be expected to produce the project plans, monitor performance for risks and issues and resolve problems as they arise to maintain getting the job done on time, on budget & to the required quality targets.
- You would be responsible for managing people, tasks, schedules, and resources through the project lifecycle. Communication will be key as you will be expected to lead the communication with team members, advising stakeholders, and making sure the project work is executed smoothly. Communication could be positive & negative news.
- You will produce a cost plan based on the brief supplied. This would generally be a combination of professional services, labour & equipment required to deliver the project. The cost plan should be monitored throughout the project with any deficit flagged to relevant stakeholder(s)
- Develop a close working relationship with all departments and customers and to work with them in relation to areas where responsibility for maintaining or installing new mechanical/infrastructure systems effects their operations so that this causes minimal disruption to the business core activities as well as minimal impact to other maintenance activity works occurring during the annual site two-week shutdown period.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory legislation for all mechanical/infrastructure services and equipment under your remit.
- Produce & present Capital Expenditure requests to the Senior Management Team.
- Mentor & support the Facilities Technical Projects Team Graduates and interns, supporting the selection & interviewing & throughout their placements.
- Ensure continued personal development, staying up to date with new technologies and processes that may be advantageous to the evolution of HPP’s mechanical infrastructure and systems complying with our business statement of intent.

Success in this role will be if you…
- Mechanical services to site network: Demonstrate your full understanding for all mechanical/HVAC services across the campus and become the “go to” person for all Mechanical service-related queries and knowledge.
- Mechanical services drawings: Identify and review for accuracy the existing Mechanical record Cad drawings, survey and update as required. Identify gaps, survey and create as installed drawings using AutoCAD.
- Documentation: Generate up-to-date documentation and labelling systems for each sub-system, this should include AutoCad and PDF formats, update labelling conventions.
- Design & Build: Be able to design & validate mechanical specifications for allocated projects, create construction Cad drawing for allocated projects, create Multi service drawing for allocated projects.
- Pursue the Facilities Engineering mechanical strategy for the buildings and to maximise your synergies, experience and knowledge to pursue best practise, maximise value for money and demonstrate real savings by these measures.
- Projects: Manage successfully projects that are assigned to you from start to completion within budget and timescale. Produce AutoCAD 2D drawings for projects that you are involved with and also for projects that other department members require. Ensure the provision of a safe & healthy working environment, and ensure compliance with all Company policies, procedures and working arrangements, as required. That engineering subcontractors under your control are appropriately supervised, and comply with contractual commitments, and site operating processes
- Method Statements and Risk Assessments: You understand and can prepare a specific risk assessment and method statement for tasks that are not covered by the sites list of standard operating practices (SOP). That suppliers and sub-contractors Method Statements and Risk Assessments are read and understood prior to any work being undertaken.
